I can not believe it is the 4th already!
Target has their summer stuff on clearance and they were setting up the back to school displays yesterday! I stopped and looked and thought in about a month, Halloween stuff will start to trickle in.
Today, after my swim, I ran to the mall to try to find a top to wear for the race. My tri top chaffed my underarm, last year, so I don't want to wear it again. (Donna, the club is getting a new design for our clothing items and I was able to get a jersey for you, with the old design on it. They only had xl left).
I was hoping I'd be able to find something at Penny's. Last year I got several tanks that are butter soft! I wasn't thrilled with any of the prints available, so I left and went to J Crew. They were having a take an additional 30 percent of sale price.I love their No. 2 pencil skirts! They are too expensive, for me, at normal price. They were marked down to 39.99 and then the 30%. With my student ID, I get an additional 15% off my total. I love the wool skirts and was able to get them earlier in the spring. I can't wait till fall/winter to wear them!.
While I went for the cotton version of the skirts. I ended up not loving how they fit, the cotton, to me, was to thick. I got shorts instead. i got a purple pair of Bermuda and a bright green pair of the "city" shorts. These are mid thigh length. A length I have never worn, due to me thinking they were too short. I was wearing a button up Chambray shirt and the clerk brought me a pair of flat sandals to try with them. Another lady was trying on a cute, summery dress and she was thinking it was too short, but it really looked good on her. This was another lesson on using "rules" as a guide only. If something truly is flattering, I think it's OK.
DQ got a job, in La Jolla at a clothing store. I drove her to her interview and while waiting, I went window shopping and found myself in Lululemon. I. Fell. In. Love! They had a purple polka dot bike jersey in their window, which lured me in the store. I tried on several items, just to see how they fit ( great) I originally thought they were a bit pricey, but after really looking at Target's workout clothes, yesterday, I'd say they are probably worth it. I was told by a clerk, to make a list of what I'd like and on black Friday the entire store is 50% off. I do think I will splurge on the jersey though. It was nice and long, fit well in the chest and was very flattering.
Race day is 25 days away. Ankle has felt well for the past week.I'm back up to 5 miles running and loving it- imagine that, never thought I'd love to run! Biking is going good. I was on a ride, alone, on Sunday and my front derailleur fell off. The chain jammed and everything went slow motion. I remember telling myself as I was slowing down to get out of the pedals. I did and was very fortunate that the next rider to come along happened to be a bike mechanic. He offered to fix it so I could make it back to my car and was impressed that I had tools to fix it (I just don't know how to use them). He did and I decided to finish the loop I was on and then return to my car. I was mumbling to myself and really mad I wasn't going to get all my miles in, when I looked up at the guy, who was pacing a group of us (solo riders who all bunched together at the traffic light) down the big hill and saw he had a prosthetic leg. In an instant I felt stupid for being upset and any problems I was having went away. I live a blessed life and sometimes it only takes a few seconds to remember that!
Today, I went for an hour long continuous swim. I just got in and decided to just swim. I stopped for a few seconds when I needed a "rest", I'm back at my favorite pool at the Y. I love the pool and dislike everything else about the facility! I think, once school starts, I will restart my membership at the new fancy place down the street from my house. Love everything about that place, except their pool. It is only 3 and a half feet deep,
Tomorrow, I'm running at the beach and the road that accesses the cliffs. I really like it there. When you start hurting, you just have to look around at the scenery and the pain goes away!
Hope you all have a safe and enjoyable 4th!
The first day I went to class with my cast, another lady came in saying she had opened her mouth to say she almost didn't come to class because she had a bad blister and the saw me/cast. Those prosthesis people amaze me. I realize it just becomes the new normal, but still.
ReplyDeleteFive miles is REALLY impressive. Glad you were able to push past emotional end and get yourself to this level.
I am looking foward to and dreading getting myself going again with cardio. I know it is going to be a pain in the ass and take at least three weeks after I am released. It will nearly be like starting from scratch.
Found great apt. Will write post.
