I have a race in 39 days.........I really should get an open water swim in.At least to make sure the wetsuit fits.
Swimming is either really good or a total train wreck. This week is the first week of summer camp and the Y is having a week long special swim camp for all the kiddies, in the lap pool (facility has 2 pools) Which means late night swims, which are actually nice.
I have yet to have a mental break down, like last year. When I saw the" 39 days until" post, today, I just thought hmm, better get the butt in the bay. Ok, there is a reason I am not swimming in the bay, like I did last summer. Race location is fresh water in a river. Bay is salt water. Race river, to me, felt like swimming in the pool, there wasn't much boyouncy.
Ankle is healing. I am back up to 4 miles running and will be going for 5 tomorrow. I bought some K tape and have been taping it every few days. The tape lasts about 3 days. I am suppose to add a mile every few runs
I found out last week that if I actually use my albuterol before a hard workout, I can breathe much better and sustain a harder effort, instead of just using it when needed.
This past Sunday, I had the best, of the season, bike ride.Loving my Speedfill! Did I mention I got one at the charity swap meet the tri club had? I had actually bought one over Memorial day and never opened it as I was using a aerobottle. I saw a neoprene cover for one (to keep drink cooler) and the guy selling it said $20 for all of it, it was too big for his bike frame :) Lucky me.. I pondered keeping both, but decided to return the new one, to help cover the costs of tires for the race. I would have never of guessed that drinking more really does help !
On Friday Coach L and I had a sit down meeting. She said whenever you have a work out, you are actually having two. One physical and one mental, with the goal of them coming together around a 7 or 8. It is very interesting to listen to her say how she has struggles during her races, just like we do. I think we just assume that a world champion does not have issues or has to shut down the mental negative self talk that goes on in our heads. We had a "planning and goal setting' meeting- a post in it self
In other news, I got put on a new type of thyroid medication caller, T.i.r.o.s.e.n.t. ( no periods) it is a gel cap with liquid levothyroxine in it, that can be taken at any time of the day and is easier absorbed. It seems to be working great. The whole not being able to eat for 2 hours wasn't working with my time frame and my doctor thinks I wasn't absorbing the standard pills well enough. My insurance does not cover it. The cash price is around $23 which is actually $2 less than what I have to pay for non generic meds anyways. My TSH was 22 when we started it (low) and is now down to a more normal 10. The doctor does want mine to go a bit lower, so she did up my dose a bit.
I still only have tomatoes planted in the garden. I think that is all I will have this year. Although if I can remember to grab a couple of Basil plants, I'll plants some to have some fresh basil once the tomatoes start to ripen.
Washing machine broke again today. We are going to take a couple of days to decide if we fix it again, or if it is time to buy a new one and if so, what type. We have had a lot of issues with this front loader and the computer. The one previous to this one was working well when we got rid of it at 15years old. That one was a standard top load with no electronic display .
The economy must be hitting Sea World. Every summer they have nightly fireworks from Memorial day to Labor day. This was the first weekend they had them and they have not had them nightly. Kinda miss peeking between houses, to see them off in the distance. My dogs would go nuts , nightly, when they went off as they are pretty loud
Anyone watching anything good on tv or dvd? I need something to watch while foam rolling!
